October 8, Avare, Brazil

A lunch stop among the flowering trees and the rolling countryside in south-eastern Brazil

Avaré is known as the national horse capital.

Friendly Brazilians everywhere.

A rowdy group of motorcyclists piling into the back of the pickup truck to go to the restaurant for dinner. Ayers provided this truck and a trailer to carry extra luggage, tools and spare motorcycle.

Working on Brian’s bike outside the hotel in Avaré, Tony looks exasperated, “That darn nut just dropped inside the bike!” João looks on helpfully.

Another friendly Brazilian—to the rescue with a magnetic grab tool.

Just about done—the bike, that is. João continues to look on helpfully.

October 9, Maringá, Brazil

The very unusual cathedral in the city of Maringá. The tallest monument in South America, it is 124 metres tall, and can hold 3500 people.
